Fall is here...

Hi everyone,

I'm very excited to announce that we have a class blog. We will use it to share ideas and to reflect on topics being discussed in class. A blog is an excellent tool to extend language learning. Make sure you read the weekly posts and comment every time you do. By the way, you are more than free to post a comment on anything that has to do with the monthly topics.

Speaking of which... as you know, November is a very important month in the States. Considering that the topic of unit 2 is "Food"... can you tell me why November is an important month for the US? (hint:food).

Teresa

    More questions for you...
What's the main difference between Christmas dinner and Thanksgiving? (Hint: It's not the food...)
What's the historical moment the US celebrates every Thanksgiving?
    See you tomorrow,

  5. The main difference between Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas is that people give presents each other at Christmas but there are no presents in Thanksgiving. At Christmas people celebrate the birth of Christ meanwhile at Thanksgiving they show how grateful they are.

  6. In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wapanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast which is known today as the first Thanksgiving celebration.

  7. The historical moment that is celebrated at Thanksgiving is the deliverance of the English settlers by Native Americans after the harsh winter at Plymouth, and that event has become the pre-eminent foundation story for English North America.

The first Thanksgiving was celebrated to give Thanks God and the Native Americans for helping the pilgrims survive the brutal winter.
